Tune in to the next episode of part II in the virtual Unsung America Series, narrated by Joseph, on the Plain Dealing Facebook page: Before the sky-high stylings of Tony Hawk and the technical expertise of Rodney Mullen, there were the Z-Boys, a collection of surfers turned skateboarders who laid the groundwork for an entire sport in the early 70s. Among the likes of legendary skaters like Tony Alva and Stacey Peralta was Peggy Oki, a second-generation Japanese-American who would also break ground as the first professional female skater.
