Reference is a multifaceted and exciting part of the library. I am Martha Matlock, reference manager. I have been at Bossier Central Library in the reference department for six years.
The reference department is dedicated to providing needed and accurate information for our patrons. We do so by providing and maintaining a wealth of current, accurate and accessible informational resources. These resources include books, newspaper, various online databases, and websites. In reference you will find everything from possible names for your new baby to income tax forms!
The reference staff will assist you in finding many online internet resources. This is most helpful for students needing several sources for research papers. Not to forget our older patrons, we have a list of the 10 Top Websites for Seniors. Louisiana Library Connection, a database with information from thousands of full-text magazines, newspapers and reference books, is accessible at the library and at your home by using your library card. Information used from this database is not considered an internet source and can be used by researchers as a legitimate source. All you need to log on is a current library card from any Bossier Parish Library.
While in the library be sure to take a look at the display cases in our lobby -a new exhibit is featured each month. Additionally, the library exhibits the work of our very talented local artists throughout the year.Sincerely,
