Hello! My name is Vickie Hardin, Outreach Services Specialist for Bossier Parish Libraries. Since January, 1999, it has been my pleasure to work at the best library in the state. As Outreach Specialist my goal is to create public awareness to the library system and promote literacy. My job is to bring together Bossier Parish residents and the libraries by planning and implementing special programs, acting as liaison between the libraries and other organizations, and create awareness to the libraries’ many outstanding services.
One special program developed to provide books for children takes place during Christmas; it is called “Books for Children.” Bossier Parish Libraries partners with the Friendship House in Bossier City to provide book gifts for children living in the neighborhood the Friendship House serves.
A new organization founded in 2008, “Friends of the Bossier Parish Libraries,” is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to raising funds for the library and assists with library events. Patrons are encouraged to become part of the Friends group and can apply on the libraries’ website.
The “Bossier Parish Library Connection” newsletter is published bimonthly. It contains information about technology, upcoming events, news about library branch programs, and more! It is posted on the website for patrons to view.
Read the Bossier Parish Libraries column in both the Bossier Press-Tribune and Bossier Voices to see what is going on at the libraries.
Welcome to Bossier Parish Libraries where there is always something special going on!
