Noticed A Difference in our Online Catalog?
In mid-December 2008, the I/T department took on a major task of upgrading our library management software. This meant the entire library staff had to learn a completely new system and if you have logged into your library account online, then you too have surely noticed a difference. At a quick glance, it doesn’t look like has much changed. But once you begin searching for item, you start to notice a difference. I want to take a minute or two and point out some of the changes.
- Search & Browse: From our catalog, you still have the ability to either use the “search” bar in the middle of the page or click on the “Browse” and “Search” buttons.
- Search by ISBN: Another important feature for many college students is the ability to search by ISBN. But be careful....A hardback book has a different ISBN than a paperback book.
- “Patron Review”: It is still the same. To login to your account, you type in your 14-digit library card # and your pin number, which are the last four digits of your card number if you haven't changed it.
- Account Summary: After logging in, you will immediately notice that a summary of your account information is right in front of you. Isn't that cool!!!
- New blue navigation bar stretches across the entire screen with additional links to "Home", "Help", "Search", & "Log Off".
- Edit your account information, which allows you to edit your email address and pin number. If you need to make any other changes, please contact your library branch.
- Quick View: It displays summary information about the number of items checked out (loans), items that are overdue, items that you have requested that have arrived and/or are being processed (arrived and pending holds) along with your current and fine information. To learn more details about any of these, simply click on the blue text and it will take you to that area in your account.
- Log Off: Last but not least, before you venture out exploring your new account, make sure that you always log off when you done by clicking on the “Log Off” button.
We hope that you enjoy the new online catalog. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask any of the Bossier Parish Library staff.
