Lucille Marabella
Welcome to the world of children’s books. It is here where imaginations are formed. My name is Lucille Marabella. I have worked in the Bossier Parish Library System since 1979. I have had the awesome responsibility to help foster the love of reading in the children of Bossier Parish by serving as Children Services Director since 1989.
The Children Services department day and night staff which includes Bea, Sharon, Alice, Tammie, Christine, Janicia, Peggy, and I share the same reading objective. We plant this seed and continue to nurture it through our many programs. We strive to make this department child/parent friendly. We utilize our many book displays to promote holiday books, books on current events, Bossier Parish School System summer reading list and accelerated reading list. Family participation is not only important, but essential; therefore, we sponsor several family night programs. We also work with the community in numerous events such as Cinco de Mayo festival, KTBS Celebrate Education, Sci Port programs, Keep Bossier Green, Girls/Boys Scout promotions, Shreveport Opera Xpress, Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet and Headstart just to mention a few.
Our department has been recognized by the State Library of Louisiana many times for our outstanding Parish wide Summer Reading Program. It has been commended to be one of the best in the state. We have also received many accolades regarding our preschool programs and for working with our school system in an extraordinary positive manner. We reach many children, as well as, adults with our true concern to promote the importance of reading.
I cordially invite children of all ages to explore the magic of true adventure and discover the power of reading.
